Rules:

* All entries must be submitted for judging at the event no later than 5:00 PM Thursday, August 4th. Entries should be turned in at the registration desk
* Only one (1) entry per person, and the entry must have been modded/made by only one person

Sports Division:

Read trick descriptions carefully. All tricks are to be performed as described in the text. The Spinning Top Sport Division is open to players of all abilities and is a 40-trick list with increasingly difficult tricks.

There are three age group divisions as follows:
11 and under, 12-16, 17 and over.

New seeding rules for the 2012 World Yo-Yo Contest:

Only the five reigning World Champions from 2011 are automatically seeded into their respective final.

Depending on the number of National Champions that show up to compete in a division, a “National Champions Qualifying Round” may be held.

This change is necessary in order to assure that the best unseeded players have a fair chance to advance to the finals and in order to limit the number of finalists in 1A to no more than 20 and in 2A-5A to no more than 10.

Diabolo Freestyle Exhibition Rules

-The top 7 to 10 contestants with the highest score in the Diabolo Ladder will be able to compete in the Diabolo Freestyle Exhibition.
- Each contestant shall have 2-minutes to perform a freestyle routine to his/her choice of music.
- Any style and/or number of diabolo(s) may be used (bearing or fixed axle).
- Any style of diabolo play may be performed in the freestyle (loop/single string diabolo, 1 diabolo, 2 diabolo, 3 diabolo, etc.).

Diabolo Ladder Trick Descriptions

General Rules:
Any diabolo may be used for the ladder tricks, you may change diabolos or sticks after any attempt. All tricks must end with the diabolo spinning on the string, the string untangled, the string unwrapped around the axle, and the diabolo in control. Players get one attempt at each trick. Players score is determined as follows: When a player has missed a second trick, the player is retired and the score is the last trick completed/first trick missed. This division will be divided into age groups as follows: 11 & under, 12 - 16, 17 & over

CHAMPIONSHIP FREESTYLE SCORING CRITERIA

Technical Execution (T.E.) Scoring for Prelims & Finals:

The Championship Division freestyle judges shall judge a contestant's Technical Execution according to the following scoring criteria.

Positive Point Awards:

Positive points shall be awarded for advanced level tricks or trick elements performed successfully. Variations of tricks and elements shall be fully scored.

Repeated tricks, repeated trick elements and repeated mounts may be scored at a lower value or not be scored at all.

1A-5A Pelims Information

General Seeding rules for the five technical divisions; 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A.***

The five 2010 World Champions in 1A through 5A are seeded into the Championship Finals.
All recognized current National Champions, in each of the five divisions, are seeded into the Championship Finals. Note that winners of a National Open Division (or X-Division), where contestant may compete in more than one style, do not earn a seed in any of the divisions.
