2002 World Yo-Yo Contest

2002 Yo-Yo Video Contest

Because of the popularity of event clip videos, we will be having an informal video contest this year at the 2002 World Yo-Yo Contest. This contest is mostly for bragging rights, and does not hold a world title.
  1. All tapes must be 1/2inch NTSC VHS format (the American standard VHS tape you get at stores). If you are having trouble with this (foreign competitors), look up transfer houses on the web. There's one in every major city in the world and at the very least there are plenty here in the USA where you can mail the tape to them and they can mail it back to you.

  2. Tapes need to be PG-13 at the worst. No foul language, objectionable material, nudity, excessive violence or anything else not appropriate for an audience that contains 10 year olds.

  3. The time limit is 4 minutes. At 4 minutes the stop button is pushed.

  4. Other skill toys are allowed but there has to be either yo-yos and/or spin tops have to be the featured theme.

  5. If the subject/player did not know you were taping them at the time and has not told you that you can use the footage, you cannot use the footage. If the person was on a stage in front of a large crowd, they were aware that they were being taped (so you can use it), but it is still common courtesy to tell them that you are using the footage in your video.

  6. Tapes will be judged on player performance, technical quality (camera, editing, any post-production, etc.), and creativity. Each category will be judged on a scale of 0 to 100 points. Winner will be determined by total of all categories from all judges together.

  7. Tapes need to be turned in by hand to registration desk at the world yo-yo contest from before 12:00 noon on the Saturday of the competition and the final showing will be on Saturday night, exact time and location will be announced.

  8. All tapes must have written on the tape the contestants Name, Address, Telephone number, E-mail (if available) and age.

  9. Tapes can also be mailed ahead of time to Infinite Illusions, Po Box 2584, Tallahassee, FL 32316. Tapes that are mailed must be received by July 25th 2002. We can not be responsible for tapes delayed in the mail.

  10. We will accept all tapes handed in during the acceptance time, but space in the actual contest (and consideration) will be limited to the first 20 entries that follow all rules and criteria.

  11. Tapes will be available for pick up on Sunday at the registration desk. Tapes not picked up become ours.

  12. All decisions and awards are at the discretion of the judges and organizers and their decisions are final.
