Itıs been a long time since the first Yo-Yo World Championships held in London in 1934. 12 players vied for the World Championship using wooden fixed-axle yo-yoıs. Jump 66 years ahead for the 2000 World Yo-Yo Championships. Hundreds of players of all ages will attend and use state-of-the-art plastic and metal yo-yoıs with ball-bearing transaxles. One thing remains the same, 1934 World Champion Harvey Lowe will be on hand .

The 2000 World Yo-Yo Championships will take place this coming July 8 and 9 at Nickelodeon Studios inside Universal Studios Theme Park in Orlando, Florida.

The worldıs best yo-yoers will gather to determine who will be the 2000 world champion. Players are coming from as far away from Japan. World titles will be awarded in the A (single-hand), AA (two-hand) , and X (Extreme) divisions.

The Grand Martial of the 2000 World Yo-Yo Contest will be Harvey Lowe, a major player in the history of American Yo-Yoing. Harvey won the first World Yo-Yo Contest in 1934.

Along with the World Championship Contest, there will be yo-yo workshops, world record breaking attempts, yo-yo swapping and more. The 1999 single-handed champion was Joel Zink and the 1999 two-handed champion was Takumi Nagase, from Japan.
